Periyar

This picture was taken on my visit to Kalady, This is river periyar. Kalady is the birth place of Adi Shankracharya. Among the many miraculous happenings associated with Shankaracharya's life is one when he is believed to have diverted the course of this river, then flowing one and a half kilometers away from the house, for his aged mother who could have her daily bath in the river without walking a long way. Even today one can see the river has taken an uncharacteristic turn towards the Sringeri Math shrine, believed to be the site of Sankara, sumitha house.

The Door

"When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us." .........-Helen Keller

Home

"Always design a thing by considering it in its next larger context -- a chair in a room, a room in a house, a house in an environment, an environment in a city plan." ..........Eliel Saarinen
